BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Aisha Smiley, known professionally as Moni, discovered her love for music at an early age. Whether singing in her church choir, performing in school productions, competing in local talent shows, or singing the national anthem at her high school graduation, music was always a natural part of her life.

In 2018, Moni relocated to Dallas, Texas, with her family. It was there that she began taking songwriting seriously after spending time observing her father and older brother create music. What started as unfinished ideas, voice notes, and a desire to express herself gradually evolved into a passion for creating songs that reflected real experiences and emotions.

Like many independent artists, Moni's journey has been one of constant learning. Beyond writing and recording music, she has taught herself how to navigate the many moving pieces of being an artist—from building a home recording setup and engineering her own vocals to understanding marketing, content creation, and music distribution. Each release has become an opportunity to grow, not only as a musician but as a businesswoman and creative entrepreneur.

In October 2022, Moni released her first music video, The Birds, directed by Keith Brandon, followed by her second visual, STFU, in March 2023. Shortly after, she shifted her focus inward, dedicating herself to developing her sound and taking greater ownership of her creative process. Recording from her home studio, she began crafting music on her own terms, building a catalog rooted in honesty, vulnerability, love, healing, and self-discovery.

While independence has played a major role in her journey, Moni understands that success is never achieved alone. Community has been one of the most valuable parts of her growth. From family and collaborators to supporters who stream, share, and believe in her vision, she recognizes the people who continue to pour into her dream and help push her forward. Their encouragement reminds her that music is about connection as much as creation.

Through every song, Moni invites listeners into her world—sharing stories of love, growth, intimacy, heartbreak, and self-reflection. Her music is a reminder that life's most meaningful moments are often found in our most vulnerable ones, and that there is beauty in embracing both our strengths and our insecurities..
